The German Association of Occupational Therapy (DVE) is the largest professional association for occupational therapists in Germany and has been committed for many decades to the advancement of occupational therapy as well as to representing the interests of its members. With more than 14,000 members, the association represents occupational therapists from practice, clinical settings, research, education, and academia.

As a central voice in professional policy, the DVE is committed to the recognition, quality, and future viability of occupational therapy. The association serves as an important dialogue and negotiation partner for policymakers, ministries, authorities, health insurance providers, and other stakeholders in the healthcare system, actively shaping the further development of occupational therapy in practice, education, academia, and research.

In addition, the DVE is internationally connected and represents German occupational therapy both within the Council of Occupational Therapists for the European Countries (COTEC) and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT).

The work of the association covers numerous areas: advocacy for professional policy interests, support for members in professional and career-related matters, promotion of evidence-based practice, and the further development of education, academic study, and scientific research within occupational therapy. The goal is to create optimal conditions for high-quality occupational therapy care and to make the societal importance of occupational therapy more visible.
